Some pricing information for additional Comcast channels and services
(all prices are monthly charges)
Upgrade to High Definition set top box—$7: This set top box will allow people with High Definition television sets to watch HD channels. With the HD set top box and the standard service Comcast provides to the Villages, you’ll be able to receive eight local channels and one channel of HBO in HD.
Upgrade to Digital Classic—$14.95: 38 more regular channels, plus 13 High Definition channels (requires a high definition set top box). Includes Turner Classic Movies, WE, Bloomberg and Independent Film Channel, which are not on Comcast’s basic line-up.
Upgrade to Digital Preferred—$15.95: Includes everything that comes with the Digital Classic package, plus 29 more regular channels, including six Encore movie channels. Adding it all up, the Digital Preferred package gives you 67 more regular channels than the standard Villages service, plus 13 HD channels if you have an HD set top box and television set. If you buy Digital Preferred, you don’t have to buy Digital Classic.
Digital Premier—$63.95: Includes digital classic channels, digital preffered channels, Encore and Multiplexes, 5 premium services, pay-per-view, On-Demand, digital music channels.
Digital Sports—$4.95: Includes 11 national and regional sports channels. This package is offered separately (à la carte), and can be added to anything else you have.
Internet Service—$45.95 (standard price): This price is the full rate; however, Comcast frequently offers discounted deals. Runs at 6 Mbps (Megabits per second), which is much faster than DSL.
Phone Service—$44.95 (standard price): Unlimited local and nationwide calling, plus Canada. Like Internet service, Comcast offers different deals, so it could be possible to get phone service for less.
DVR Service—$13.95 with or without HD: Comcast’s version of Tivo allows you to automatically record shows, or record one show while you watch another. The HD version of the DVR service includes the High Definition upgrade, so you wouldn’t have to pay twice. And you still get to keep your original set top box, so you can put it on a second TV set.
Comcast also offers a number of premium and specialty channels. More information about those channels will be available when in-home conversions begin, or you can look them up on www.comcast.com.
